Module 3:

Building knowledge and awareness about immunization amongst caregivers and families

Knowledge and awareness is a critical component of the caregiver journey. Without an understanding of disease, and how vaccines can prevent them, people are unlikely to understand the value of vaccination. They are even less likely to demand something they perceive no need for. While knowledge and awareness is critical for vaccine uptake, most behavioural programmes prematurely stop at knowledge and awareness when focusing on demand generation.

This module focuses on why building knowledge and awareness is critical, but not sufficient on its own, to build demand for immunization. It will teach you how to create effective posters, banners, and printed materials to increase knowledge and awareness as well as explore what other tools can be used. You will also be introduced to actions that can be taken to respond to rumours, misinformation and disinformation.
